What can the AI Mix Design Assistant do, and what are its limits?

 Overview

The AI Mix Design Assistant can create a starting mix design within your project requirements and preferences, or edit an existing one. It's designed to assist concrete product managers and technical teams, not replace them. It keeps experts in command and offers full transparency and context behind the recommendations it makes.

What it's designed to do
  • Assist concrete product managers.
  • Push new team members to innovate, with help and built-in quality assurance.
  • Save hours in design time on every mix.
  • Suggest a starting mix from the project targets, the plant's materials and your preferences.
  • Recommend edits to an existing mix within the spec limits and your preferences. These are changes to cement, SCM and water.
  • Improve a rating: finishability, pumpability or shrinkage. Example requests: edit the mix design to reduce shrinkage, improve pumpability, or improve finishability.
  • Bring a mix back inside the spec limits when asked. Example request: suggest the changes needed to bring this mix within spec.
  • Explain the limits of a design or of an Enhance result, and say plainly what it doesn't do.
  • Work on slump in any way. Slump is an input and outside the assistant's scope. It doesn't predict slump, doesn't design toward it, and doesn't propose admixtures to reach it. If you ask, it will tell you that slump must be reached and verified by you in the field.
  • Suggest admixtures. It doesn't use admixtures or suggest admixture types or doses.
  • Give an unexplained refusal. It never returns a bare "unsupported." When it can't do something, it says what it can't do and why.
  • Keep your plant materials, project limits and preferences up to date, because the assistant works from them.
  • Be specific about the outcome you want, such as lower shrinkage or a mix within spec.
  • Review each recommendation against your limits before you accept it.
  • Verify slump in the field.
What it can do How it prioritizes

When you haven't expressed a priority, the assistant ranks cost first, then gradation and carbon. If you want a different priority, tell the assistant what it is.

What it can't do You stay in command

Recommendations come with context, so you can see the reasoning behind them. If you disagree with a recommendation, you can simply reject it and make the adjustments you prefer in the same interface.
