How does a Bid Report compare my project with a benchmark or carbon budget?

 Overview

Bid Reports helps producers explain the carbon impact of the concrete offered on a project, application by application. It compares the project with a published benchmark or a project-defined carbon budget, weights the results by volume, and shows how your proposed concrete stacks up.

Benchmark or carbon budget?

Benchmark

Carbon budget

What it is

A published reference for comparison.

A carbon budget that the project itself defines.

When to use it

When the project doesn't define a budget. Choose the regional benchmark that matches the location of your construction site.

When the project defines one.

What goes into a Bid Report
  • Up to ten project applications.
  • For each application: mix, application strength, volume and GWP data.
  • The GWP benchmark average and the GWP project average, in kg CO₂-eq per cubic yard.
  • The GWP reduction factor (α).
  • An Embodied Carbon Comparison by Application chart, with project and benchmark side by side for each application and in total.
  • The GWP benchmark total, the GWP project total, and the total GWP over the benchmark.
How totals are calculated

Project totals are weighted by application volume, so applications with more concrete count for more. For example, an application with four times the volume has four times the weight in the project totals.

What the results show

You can switch the Applications step to metric units if you prefer.

Applications without benchmark values

Applications without benchmark values are listed separately and excluded from the benchmark totals, because there's no benchmark value to compare them against.

Required and achieved reduction factors

A Bid Report shows the required reduction factor separately from the achieved project reduction factor, so you can see what the project asks for next to what your proposed concrete delivers.
